When I was young, I lived with flatmates and worked in this city and had lots of fun. I spent my childhood on the Awhitu Peninsula across the Manukau Harbour from Auckland City and on a clear day the Skytower (that tall spiked UFO-shaped tower in the corner) was visible from our house. So it was only a matter of time before this city made its way into one of my books.
