At the beginning of the year, I signed up to do the Goodreads 2016 Reading Challenge. Rather optimistically, I challenged myself to read 50 books in 2016. Sounds easy, right? Ha! Not so much!
So far, I've only read 35 books and it's nearly the end of November ...
so I think I'm going to fail dismally 😡
On a happier note, I did have the opportunity to meet one of my favourite authors, Kiwi historical fiction novellist Deborah Challinor during her book release tour.
I'm currently reading the second book in her 'Convict Girls' series (see below for the first one) so it was great to meet the writer in person.
Unfortunately I completely suck at writing book reviews, but here are my opinions of the last 3 books I read (and finished - I don't rate/review books I didn't finish)
The Punishment Tour by Sophie Kisker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Loved it!
It's ages since I've actually enjoyed a book written in 1st-person - usually they feel flat. But this was great! This book was really well written and engaging, I felt like the action was actually happening to me, like I was right there.
Love the twist at the end!

Another fantastic book by Deborah Challinor. Interesting, likeable characters, and a fantastic plot, well researched history, as always.

Hi Kelly, how wonderful to get to meet Deborah, her books are awesome :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reviews, definitely have to check these out. 35 books is good going, you are definitely way ahead of me!
Hugs
Roz
Hi Roz! Yes it was so cool to meet Deborah! Our town is tiny, so there were only about 12 people there (it was held in the library) so lots of time to talk to her about writing etc. She was lovely :)
DeleteI'm surprised I haven't read more than 35 books, actually!
